SOLO PERFORMANCES

Performing music has always been an integral part of my life, starting in Los Angeles at seven. Today, I still thoroughly enjoy sharing music with my audiences, whether performing with other musicians or as soloist.  The passage of time changes life and I am more selective in my gigs and related activities and even have time to work on my banjo “technique”. (Something I never found time to do when fully active with my career in previous years.) I enjoy a “modified direction” in this time of my life.

During my varied programs, I blend songs to enhance the energy and enjoyment of each event.  Since starting in grade school (opposed to grad school), I have been on more “dates” with my guitar than a girl!!  (sad commentary—lol)

(The western attire reflects my roots as “The Stetson Man” and my passion for the true American West, although my repertoire is varied.)

CHUCK OAKES & THE ACORNS

This trio began about four years ago to address the dire need for live entertainment in senior communities, especially during the COVID crisis. Despite the protocol and practices, the benefits of live music remains paramount.

In March 2023, I hosted a jam at a restored 1830’s church and a television crew captured the event for the evening news.
